Jax Taylor Confirms Exit from The Valley Amid Sobriety Journey & Divorce Drama!

After a turbulent season filled with personal struggles and public revelations, Jax Taylor has announced he’s stepping away from Bravo’s The Valley. In a statement released on July 16, the 46-year-old former Vanderpump Rules star shared that he’ll be taking a break from the show ahead of Season 3.

Jax and his now-estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, share 4-year-old Cruz. The couple—once reality TV’s most unpredictable pair—got married in 2019, but things took a turn during the filming of Season 2. Brittany moved out and later filed for divorce in summer 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

🧠 A Focus on Sobriety and Self-Work

Fans who tuned into The Valley saw Jax navigate a minefield of emotions and mistakes, all while quietly working on himself. During filming, he entered rehab for mental health treatment and has since celebrated 200 days sober from both alcohol and cocaine.

Executive Producer Alex Baskin has stood by the decision to air both sides of the Jax and Brittany breakup, insisting that telling the full story, even the uncomfortable parts, is what makes The Valley authentic. “I don’t think that’s really ‘platforming an abuser’ as much as that is platforming the story — which includes Brittany’s experience as well as Jax’s”

🔮 What’s Next for The Valley?

With Jax officially out for Season 3 and Brittany’s future with the series still up in the air, all eyes are on Bravo to see how the cast shakeup unfolds. One thing’s for sure: fans want real stories, not polished facades—and Jax stepping back may just make room for others to step up.

Will he return eventually? Never say never in the world of Bravo.

  1. If there was some fictional novel, creating someone like Jax would be an actual literary achievement. Layered villain and a comic relief at the same time, with any given moment being a cinematic experience – that was a lighting in a bottle type of casting. During VPR days he was the main character and him being fired with other 2 main characters ruined that show.
One can think that on the valley he will be as good, but fact is, the magic is gone. You can only do so much at this point in life. Jax doesn’t pay mortgage, angry that his estranged wife moved on, rage texts from rehab and lies about change. How fascinating is that? Not really fascinating. We don’t even get to see any random bimbo he brought home. We don’t get chaos on camera anymore and all the drama is boring adult normie shit. Sweater line Jax is long gone. We need to say goodbye to him and focus on a shiny new thing which is insane Michelle/Jesse duo. These guys are the show now.
