Ben Affleck Breaks Silence on Lisa Barlow!
We all remember the iconic Season 6 premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City where our resident queen of Sundance, Lisa Barlow, skipped out on Angie Katsanevas’ camping trip. Her excuse? She had “work things” to attend to. And by “work things,” she meant hitting the red carpet at SXSW for the premieres of Ben Affleck’s The Accountant 2 and Blake Lively’s A Simple Favor 2.
In true Lisa fashion, she dropped those names faster than a Taco Bell order, telling the cameras, “I’ll be with Ben Affleck and you’ll be with Bronwyn.” (Ouch!) But now, the plot has thickened, and Ben Affleck himself is weighing in on whether he actually knows our “Baby Gorgeous.”
“I Don’t Know What This Is”
While promoting his new flick The Rip alongside BFF Matt Damon, Ben was hit with the million-dollar question by Access Hollywood: Do you know Lisa Barlow?
Bless his heart, Ben looked more confused than a Housewife at a math convention. After being shown a photo of Lisa, Ben admitted he hadn’t even stepped foot in Utah in nearly a decade.
“It doesn’t look familiar to me and I don’t remember anything, and I don’t want to embarrass her,” Ben said, trying to be a total gentleman. “I don’t want to be the jerk who’s like, ‘I did meet you.’ You don’t remember everyone you meet.”
Translation: I have no idea who this woman is, but I’m too polite to say she’s hallucinating.
Lisa Claps Back (With Receipts?)
You know Lisa wasn’t going to let that slide. She hopped right into the Instagram comments to clarify that they weren’t exactly “besties” sharing a sleeping bag. She noted they were at the same event in Austin last March, calling it a “great movie and party.”
To be fair to Lisa, she previously told Decider that these were “working” events. She never claimed she and Ben were braiding each other’s hair, just that she was in the same vicinity as A-listers while her costars were stuck in an RV.
The Shade is Real
Of course, the rest of the RHOSLC cast isn’t letting her off the hook. Angie K. took the opportunity to throw some world-class shade, commenting that Ben might not know Lisa, but he’d definitely recognize her dog, Celia.
Is Lisa a name-dropper? Absolutely. Is she still the most iconic person at SXSW in her own mind? You bet. Whether Ben remembers her or not, Lisa Barlow is going to keep doing Lisa Barlow—and we love her for it.
