Below Deck Season 12, Episode 14 Recap: Fraser’s Fumbling Leadership Hits a Breaking Point.
The episode kicks off with Fraser Olender attempting yet another “fix” for Solène, this time by instructing Hugo to tell the deck team not to talk to her during charters. Why? Fewer distractions might force Solène to finally pull her weight.
But this awkward strategy quickly crumbles. When Damo casually mentions the “silence rule” to Solène, Fraser shifts the blame to Hugo for not being discreet…classic deflection. The whole thing feels more like playground politics than professional leadership. And honestly, it highlights why Fraser’s tenure as chief stew has been such a letdown. If he’s already admitted Solène is replaceable, why hasn’t he replaced her?
🍎 Solène Stirs the Pot (Again)
Rainbeau, who’s been carrying the team’s weight, tries one more time to work with Solène. They awkwardly agree to “try harder,” but it’s clear nothing is going to change. Meanwhile, Jess has lost all patience, no longer willing to defend someone who refuses to take accountability.
To make matters worse, Solène crosses a line when she questions Captain Kerry directly about Fraser’s new rule. Kerry shuts her down, reminding her that Fraser put the measure in place for her benefit. Instead of listening, Solène pushes back, insisting she hasn’t been told she’s doing poorly, despite multiple flashbacks showing Fraser correcting her. The denial is unreal.
🚤 Captain Kerry Takes the Wheel
While the interior implodes, the deck team has their own pressure-packed moment: Med Mooring the yacht. Captain Kerry makes it clear this is one of the most stressful maneuvers in yachting, and tensions spike as the massive St. David squeezes into a packed marina.
Against the odds, Kerry and the deckhands pull it off flawlessly, with everyone breathing a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, that victory is short-lived as crew drama takes center stage once again.
💥 Jess Finally Snaps
Over a crew meal, Jess confronts Solène head-on, saying her poor work ethic is dragging everyone down. Solène dismisses the criticism, but Jess doesn’t hold back, even rescinding an apology after realizing it’s wasted energy. Bárbara and Damo point out that Jess’s outburst may be fueled by personal frustrations too…but that doesn’t make her wrong.
By the end of the episode, Solène remains defensive, Fraser is scrambling to justify his hands-off approach, and the team is left wondering how they’re supposed to finish the season like this.
Final Thoughts
Fraser’s refusal to make the tough call with Solène has left the crew fractured and morale at an all-time low. Instead of cutting his losses, he’s forcing everyone to play babysitter to the worst stew of the season. With only one charter left, the question is clear: can Fraser salvage his reputation as chief stew—or has his leadership completely sunk?

Yep, Fraser really dropped the ball this season. Excited to see Captain Sandy take over!
Completely. I don’t think he will be back.
