Below Deck Season 12, Episode 8 Recap: Love Island, But Make It Below Deck! The crew’s two-day villa break turns into a dizzying dating show with more hookups than heads cleaned.
🍷 Welcome to Villa Mayhem
If you tuned in hoping for luxury yachting this week, think again. Below Deck Season 12, Episode 8 swaps out service trays for tequila shots as the crew takes a two-day break in a stunning villa.
The trip feels less like a breather and more like Love Island: Boat Crew Edition. Everyone’s kissing everyone, and Solène has somehow become the center of a messy romantic vortex that even Fraser can’t diagram clearly. Jess, Kyle, Damo, Bárbara… they’ve all taken turns locking lips with her or each other. It’s not just messy—it’s confusing.
💋 Solène’s Rom-Com Chaos
Solène is doing her best impression of a reality TV queen, using her charm (and selective attention) to keep both Jess and Kyle on a string while sneakily making out with Damo. Jess, who is clearly catching feelings, tries to set boundaries—only to end up kissing Bárbara. Meanwhile, Kyle is left stewing in his own heartbreak soup.
And Solène? She’s out here saying the only person she wants to be in a relationship with is… herself. Iconic or infuriating? You decide.
😡 Chef Anthony vs. Fraser: The Rematch
Anthony is still hung up on last season’s firing and is convinced Fraser had a hand in it. He tries to rope Rainbeau into spying on Fraser, but she gracefully declines and instead gives Fraser a heads-up. Fraser clarifies (again): he didn’t get Anthony fired.
Later, things nearly boil over when Anthony vents his frustrations at Fraser during their stay at the villa. But instead of a blowout, we get… hugs? Tears? An apology tour? Honestly, it’s sweet—but also anticlimactic given the buildup.
🧼 Rainbeau, the Real MVP
While everyone else is focused on swapping spit, Rainbeau is left doing the actual work. She’s feeling drained, unsupported, and rightfully frustrated. Solène dumps tasks on her, then gaslights her during a group dinner, claiming she was “ordered” to clean all the toilets. Production flashbacks show otherwise.
Rainbeau tries to hold her ground, but Solène shuts her down with passive-aggressive digs and a snide “be careful” warning. Girl, what? Give Rainbeau a raise and a nap, stat.
🎭 From Yachting Show to Soap Opera
Let’s call it what it is: this episode was not about yachting. It was about vibes, vacation hookups, and softcore confrontation. Captain Kerry had a brief, heartfelt FaceTime moment with his son (which was honestly one of the most grounded parts of the episode), but otherwise, it felt like the deck crew was auditioning for Bachelor in Paradise.
Even Rainbeau—queen of resilience—loosened up a bit at Carnival, kissing and dancing like she finally let herself exhale.
🥱 Final Thoughts: Where’s the Boat?
Listen, I love a good Bravo drama, but if I wanted to watch flirty chaos in a villa, I’d turn on Too Hot To Handle. This cast is interesting—but not interesting enough to ditch the entire yacht. Give us crew drama on the boat, not just at poolside villas.
Luckily, next week looks like we’re getting back to business. And maybe, Solène’s reign of romantic confusion will finally come to an end.

I love Anchor Watch recap more than the actual show Below Deck ➡️❤️⬅️
Thank you! It’s getting harder and harder to recap this season.
I hope next season we get a lot of new people. If this was the first season, I don’t know I would have had a second.
Below Deck this season is very different. Not enjoying it as much as I did last season or BDDU
I have to agree. This is not my favorite season of Below Deck. Something is off.
Agree 100%
