Up and Adam!

The Real Housewives of London Season 1, Episode 4 – “Fifty Shades of Red” – At a dramatic dinner party in the Cotswolds, the gloves and filters come off.

The ladies continue their weekend in the Cotswolds, and what was meant to be a tranquil countryside escape with fresh air, alpacas, and maybe a bit of healing energy… quickly turns into high drama. From heated accusations continuing in a minibus, to Panthea giving the full When Harry Met Sally treatment at the dinner table, to Karen breaking down in tears at the pub – this trip really has it all. Throw in Sir Henry, vintage cars, and some questionable Buckingham Palace bragging, and you’ve got one unforgettable Housewives getaway.

🥂 A Regal Toast (Almost)

The drama continues before dinner even begins – right there in the minibus. Panthea snaps back, “You’re the one who called me a narcissist!” The squabbling is loud enough for Nessie to hear it from inside the house. Poor Nessie, who’d planned a “beautiful, tranquil experience”, cringes at the thought of Sir Henry waiting on the doorstep while the ladies are in full meltdown.

Inside the house, the mood softens. The ladies swoon over the interiors and melt as Nessie plays the piano beautifully, while they sip champagne. Sir Henry does his best host impression, while a female violin duo serenades the room. They raise a toast to Nessie and her vision of friendship and fresh starts. For a moment, all seems calm…

💂 Buckingham Palace Bragging Rights

But peace never lasts long in this crowd. Karen drops her story about being invited to Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea with Princess Anne. Juliet M jumps in: “I’ve had lunch with Princess Anne.” Panthea rolls her eyes dramatically, Karen notices and calls her out, and Panthea, wide-eyed, insists: “I didn’t say anything!”

Amanda scrolls through Karen’s phone, admiring the royal invite, while Panthea cuts in with: “Is there a competition going to Buckingham Palace?” Karen answers firmly, “No darling, it’s not a competition.” Nessie, desperate to cool the rising tension, tries to change the subject with soothing words.

Confessionals take the heat up again. Karen: “Darling, I’m in a calibre by myself and I’m loving it.” Panthea: “Anyone who pays a lot of money to a charity can get invited to Buckingham Palace, but not to see the King. The garden party is very exclusive. You have to have done some sort of service or duty for the kingdom to be invited to that. And I got invited!”

Amanda, ever the realist, calls it petty: “If they’re that desperate to be royal adjacent, they should just hang out with dear Sir Henry.”

🎲 Nessie’s Dinner Games

Nessie, determined to keep things lively, discusses her dinner fabulous red dinner theme – with red representing passion, love, luck, anger, and fire. To break the tension, she whips out a cheeky box of questions.

First card out the box: “Have you ever faked an orgasm?”
Panthea jumps in: “Many times.” She explains her ex liked it five times a day, but she never really enjoyed it. Instead, she modelled her performance on When Harry Met Sally and promptly delivers a full-blown Meg Ryan impression at the dinner table. Juliet M looks horrified: “Really? At dinner?” Amanda shakes her head: “Not appropriate.”

Karen, in confessional, makes it clear: “I keep my bedroom business in my bedroom because I’m a lady. And I don’t need to fake it.” Shade firmly thrown.

⛰️ Who Would You Toss Off A Cliff?

Next up: “If you had to swap lives with one woman here, who would it be?” Karen gushes over Amanda, praising her strength, business sense, and mystery. Amanda picks Karen, admiring her family and creativity.

Panthea, of course, mocks them in her confessional: “Give me the sick bucket, now.”

The final (and very risky) question – “Who would you… trust with a secret, go out with for fun, or toss off a cliff?” – sets off fresh sparks. Panthea immediately says about Karen “she chooses me, I choose her. That’s good.”

Minutes later Panthea and Karen are back at each other’s throats. with Panthea not holding back, saying she’s done her ‘due dillegence’ on Karen, with her friends in Jersey reporting back to Panthea, ‘this girl is not your calibre, not you class.” Gasps of shock all round (#LadyGate is officially born), and Karen demands names while Nessie frantically steers them back towards tomorrow’s countryside plans.

🦙Day Two: Alpacas, Retail Therapy & A Sudden Reconciliation

The next day, calm(ish) returns. Panthea apologises to Karen via text, but Karen wants it face-to-face. They take a walk in the Cotswolds countryside, air their grievances, admit they don’t want to fight anymore, and end with a hug. Besties, apparently. Juliet M, unimpressed, deadpans: “When’s the next emotional rollercoaster happening?”

Elsewhere, alpacas steal the show. Amanda embraces her country-girl roots and apparently resembles her alpaca, and Karen recoils when her alpaca Orlando spits at her. “He reminds me of Panthea,” she declares. Meanwhile, Gena and Juliet M’s shopping chatter is interrupted by the temptation of sausage rolls in the quintessential Cotswolds village of Burford.

🥹 Tears In The Pub

Classic car rally driver Nessie (who knew?), organises some vintage cars for the ladies to drive over to dinner. Amanda drives Karen, as she doesn’t do manual or as she calls it ‘stick’. In Cheltenham, dinner at The Frogmill country pub turns deeply emotional.

Between vintage cars, cosy pub vibes, and hearty comfort food, Karen shares her heart-breaking childhood story of her mum taking her from the countryside and leaving her with her father in the city for her own safety. She remembers her mother leaving her and walking away, and breaks down in tears, Nessie hugs her, and the ladies hold her hands in support.

Confessionals reveal Karen’s journey of forgiving her mother and finding her voice. The ladies toast to friendship, forgiveness, and Cotswolds 2025. For once, there are no eye-rolls – just tears and warmth.

But the next morning, trouble brews again. Juliet M and Gena spot Karen’s late-night Instagram post quoting Bob Marley’s Hypocrites. Juliet M is upset: was last night’s emotion genuine, or just a set-up?

✨ Next Time On RHOLDN…

Coming up: Panthea and Ed head to a right Royal event, where Panthea loudly blesses King Charles and Queen Camilla as they walk past her! Nessie gets shocking news from Panthea regarding Karen’s pub confession. We see the return of Caroline Stanbury, thank goodness. Plus we have the arrival of Juliet A, who wastes no time clashing with Amanda.

Amanda, cool as ever, shuts it down with: “Chill out, have another drink.”

Oooh the tension – and we’re here for every second.
